Wrightsville Beach Real Estate
If you are looking for a place to retire to then why not consider the pristine town and area of Wrightsville Beach. Built partly on islands and partly on the mainland, Wrightsville Beach real estate is a prime choice for your retirement home or even a vacation home. The small town houses less than three thousand people outside of the holiday seasons making it a peaceful retreat for most of the year and a bustling vacation destination when the weather turns warm and people come out to the sea.
The first Wrightsville Beach real estate, if you could call it that, was the Carolina Yacht Club that was built here in 1853. A train track was built some twenty years later allowing visitors from the nearby town of Wilmington to come visit the pristine area. As it became a more famous destination for holidaymakers, a large dance floor and entertainment area was built. The Lumina Pavilion was opened in 1905 and attracted thousands of visitors and some of the greatest bands of the times. It was eventually closed down in 1973 as times changed and people's interests went to other things. The history of the small town is filled with various other occurrences and the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History tells the entire tale to any who are interested.
The town is considered to be a very nice place to live and go on holiday. The pleasant climate, serene surroundings and wonderful views are just some of the attractions of the area. While the four-mile beach is obviously the main attraction of the town, there are other attractions as well. Wrightsville Beach is seen as a more upper middle class beach by visitors and offers a safe environment that is virtually free of crime. Wrightsville Beach real estate offers some of the most beautiful houses in contemporary beach architecture but amongst the newer designs there are also old-fashioned beach cottages that have been renovated and rebuilt over the years. The oldest cottage in the area dates back as far as 1897. Strict laws regarding the beach make the area safe and clean and help to protect the pristine and serene nature of the area.
Aside from the beautiful surroundings, Wrightsville Beach is considered a prime surfing spot on this side of the United States. The father of world-famous surfer, Ben Bourgeois, owns a surf shop on the island and surfers from all over the country congregate here yearly. Johnny Mercer's Pier, now rebuilt in a more sturdy concrete manifestation, is considered to be one of the best fishing spots in the area. And if Wrightsville Beach real estate is not your interest there are three large beach hotels that offer magnificent service and accommodation to visitors and locals alike. Wrightsville Beach has natural beauty, a serene atmosphere and a laid-back seaside spirit that makes it the perfect place to retire or have a vacation. Come and see for yourself and who knows, you might end up thinking about buying your own piece of Wrightsville Beach real estate. |
